School's Namesake Dies at Age of 101

MAY 15, 2025—On behalf of Regina Public Schools’ administration, the Regina Board of Education and the staff and students of École Elsie Mironuck School, we advise of the passing of Elsie Mironuck at the age of 101.

École Elsie Mironuck Community School opened under the name of Sherwood School in 1962. Elsie Mironuck was Principal of Sherwood School for 15 years (1972-1987). She was a dedicated teacher and principal working in the education field for 45 years, 39 of those spent at Regina Public Schools. 

Following her retirement, Elsie often visited the school and participated in their learning and celebrations. She was also a frequent participant and organizer of Regina Public Schools superannuates’ activities.

On February 4, 2024, a special 100th birthday celebration was held at College Park 1 for Elsie. Family, friends, former colleagues and students attended the event to celebrate this significant milestone.
